For most people, becoming a millionaire is something that cannot be achieved overnight. In fact, a lot of the world’s millionaires we know of today built their millions over many years. But in 2019, Michigan Lottery helped 33 players turn pocket change into a million dollars or more overnight.
All in all, mi_lottery paid out more than $2 billion in prizes. Making 33 millionaires and many other players, tens of thousands.
An $80 million Powerball jackpot won by Phillip Chippewa, of Suttons Bay, topped the list of big winners last year. The top prizes for 2019 represented more than $155.3 million in winnings for players.
On September 21, 2019, Phillip Chippewa, a father of seven and 21 grandchildren from Suttons Bay, hit the Powerball jackpot, winning $80 million. So, his ticket matched the winning numbers 01, 09, 22, 36, 68, and the Powerball 22.

On August 24, 2019, a last-minute stop may have helped a Mi Lottery player win $17.1 million Lotto 47 jackpot. The anonymous 57-year-old man from Ogemaw County is reported as saying he nearly missed out on playing his Lotto 47 numbers on that fateful drawing.
Thanks to that last-minute decision he bought the life-changing ticket.
Classic Lotto 47 certainly is one of Michigan Lottery’s favorite semi-weekly draw games. The third top Michigan Lottery prize won in 2019 was a $5 million Lotto 47 jackpot won by a Grand Rapids woman on November 20, 2019.
She purchased her ticket at the D&W store on Street Southeast in Grand Rapids. This was the third time in 2019 that the Lotto 47 game made a multi-millionaire.
