A 64-year-old Lansing man is $1 million richer after cashing in one of the twelve top prize-winning Millionaire Maker tickets.
However, the lucky winner opted to have his identity kept private. This after he revealed a winning number with a $1 million prize symbol playing Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Maker instant game.
After he found out he won, Michigan Lottery officials quoted the man as saying, “You’re kidding me!”
This very lucky 64-year-old bought his winning ticket at the Meijer store, located at 6200 South Pennsylvania in Lansing.
Earlier, he’d won a couple of bucks playing Lotto 47. So, still feeling lucky, he used his Lotto 47 winnings to buy a few instant game tickets. Apparently, he scratched the tickets as soon as he got out of his truck. At first, he thought it was a joke.
That was until he scanned the ticket’s bar code with the MI Lottery app, which verified it’s a $1 million winner. “I called my wife, and she thought I was full of it. She wouldn’t believe me until I sent her a picture of the ticket!” Exclaimed the winner.
The winner and his darling wife then went to MI Lotteries headquarters and claimed his prize. Rather than annuity payments for the full amount, they chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment of $634,000.
He told the staff there that with his winnings, they plan to give their retirement accounts a boost.
“Winning is overwhelming. It gives me and my wife the ability to relax and it guarantees we will have a comfortable retirement,” the player said.
