The Mega Millions jackpot now stands at a record high of $512 million for tonight’s drawing. So far, this jackpot is the second-largest Mega Millions prize in 2018.
If there is a single jackpot-winning ticket tonight, the lump sum payout option will be an estimated $303 million — however, should the winner opt to receive the jackpot prize in annuity payments, the first payment would be close to $7.7 million, and the final payment would be about $31.7 million.
The biggest Mega Millions jackpot won this year was the $533 million jackpot drawn on the 30th of March. One ticket purchased in New Jersey matched all five winning white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the prize.
To date, Kevin Blake, of Waterford, is the last Michigan player to win the multi-state Mega Millions jackpot. There were two winning tickets in that draw and Kevin Blake won $21 million of the $42 million jackpot last year. The other winning player was from Rhode Island.
Should a Michigan player win tonight’s $512 million jackpot, it would be the largest Mega Millions prize, and the largest overall prize won by a Michigan native.
To this day, Donald Lawson’s, $337 million Powerball jackpot win, in 2012, reigns as the largest Lottery prize ever won in Michigan.
Tickets can be purchased online or in-store until 10:45 p.m for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing, which will be held at 11:00 p.m. Each Mega Millions play cost $2 and for an additional $1, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can increase non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.
