It was a small mistake, the kind that would later double her luck to win her a $100,400 Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.
Linda Keyanchuk, a 64-year-old woman from Westland, a city in Wayne County meant to buy a multi-draw Powerball ticket but accidentally ordered six Powerball tickets instead.
That meant she had inadvertently played the same numbers on more than one ticket for the same draw. Not the best of winning strategies I would say, particularly in a game of chance with odds profoundly stacked against you. But for Linda, at least on this fateful day, it proved to be a lucky mistake worth a $100,400 reward.
In two tickets, Linda correctly matched four of the five winning white ball numbers plus the Powerball number (10-21-30-43-63 PB: 17) on the 08 August 2018 drawing to win two $50,000 prizes. She also matched three numbers and the Powerball four times to win an additional $400.
She bought her tickets online at the official Michigan Lottery website. “I didn’t realize my mistake until the next afternoon when I logged in to my Michigan Lottery account and saw I had won more than $100,000!
Keyanchuk visited Lottery headquarters I Lansing on Wednesday to claim her big prizes. She plans to pay for an upcoming vacation, and then save the remainder.
