A 57-year-old woman from Gladwin County has become the newest Michigan Lottery $1 million winner after playing the Black & Gold instant game. The anonymous lucky winner purchased the winning ticket in Mount Pleasant from the Border’s Corner Store on 7024 E. Pickard Rd.
“I stopped at the store after work, as usual, one night and decided to try the Black & Gold game. I started scratching the ticket when I got home, and when I saw I had won $1 million, I was in shock!” said the player. “I usually scratch my tickets as soon as I get in my car, so I’m glad I waited until I got home this time because I don’t think I would have been able to drive since I was so shaky and excited!”
The winner recently claimed her prize from Michigan Lottery Headquarters, where she decided to take a lump-sum payment of approximately $693,000 instead of the 30-year annuity for the full million dollars. In addition, she plans to purchase a home with her winnings and share her good fortune with her family.
Black & Gold players winning more than $9 million since December
The Black & Gold instant game launched last December, with players so far winning more than $9 million. The $10 tickets allow players to win from $10 to $1 million, and there are currently more than $44 million in prizes remaining. This includes two more top $1 million awards and 134 prizes of $2,000 each.
Also, a Michigan Lottery player has yet to claim their prize of $25,000 a year for life in the latest Lucky For Life drawing. One winning ticket matched the five numbers, 10-17-22-42-46, to win the top prize.
This is the second straight week and the second time in 2023 that a player has won the top prize playing Lucky For Life. The winner should contact the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division to schedule an appointment to claim their prize before the ticket becomes invalid in one year.
A total of eight players won the lifetime prize in 2022 in the popular Lucky For Life drawing, which gives players a chance to win prizes from $3 up to the top lifetime cash prize of $1,000 a day for life, in which players must match the five numbers from 1 to 48 plus the Lucky Ball ranging from 1 to 18. Players can purchase tickets online or at any Michigan Lottery retailer.
