Michigan lottery officials report of a man, Philip Chippewa, a regular Michigan Lottery Powerball player from Suttons Bay in Leelanau County, to be the lucky winner of the latest Powerball jackpot prize worth $80 million.
Still, the 54-year-old and his wife Dawn Chippewa, quickly become even more famous for having seven children and twenty-one grandchildren.
So, this truly blessed couple correctly predicted all the winning numbers drawn in the September 21 Powerball drawing. It was a quick pick.
Michigan Lottery Powerball Winning History
Phillip and Dawn Chippewa’s chose the lump-sum payment. Thus, took home about $42 million after taxes. However, this win goes down in history as the fourth instance that a Michigan Lottery Powerball player won the jackpot since the state began offering the game in 2010.
Another Michigan player to win the Powerball jackpot was Julie Leach, of Three Rivers. But again, Leach was the first Michigan Lottery Powerball player to hit it in 2015.

“Any time I see the jackpot getting up there, I buy a few tickets and hope for the best,” Chippewa said in a release. So, he stopped at Barrels and Barrels the day of the drawing and almost walked out without buying the tickets. But thanks to a last-minute decision he got four plays that fateful afternoon and the jackpot-winning ticket was one of them.
To confirm they were big winners, the Chippewas headed back to Barrels and Barrels and have their ticket scanned. The retailer also received a fat commission check for selling the winning ticket.
With the $42 million, the couple plans to do good, buy homes for each of their children, and continue taking care of their big family.
