The newest Michigan Lottery millionaire is a 33-year-old that looks forward to spoiling his wife and daughter after he won $1 million playing one of the Lottery’s latest instant games, Cashword Times 20.
“I had been pretty lucky playing Club Keno, and when I cashed my ticket, I decided to buy a few Cashwords,” said the lucky winner, Adam Meloche. “The second one I scratched was the $1 million winner.”
Meloche purchased the winning ticket at the Wesco gas station in Spring Lake at 502 West Savidge Street. He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize and chose to receive the lump sum payment of about $634,000 instead of 30 annual installments for the full $1 million. He has plans to buy a new truck, take a golf trip and spoil his wife and daughter with his winnings.
The Cashword Time 20 instant game has paid lucky players over $34 million since it debuted in September 2022. Players can win prizes from $20 up to $1 million with each $20 ticket purchase.
Over $60 million in prizes still remain, including two more $1 million top prizes, 55 $5,000 prizes, and 561 prizes of $1,000 each. Michigan Lottery players took home total prizes worth $1.7 billion in 2022.
Jackpot Second Chance Game
A Wayne County man was also a big winner in the $6 million Jackpot Second Chance game. The player says he was stunned when he received a call from the Michigan Lottery to inform him of his $100,000 win.
The 70-year-old player, who chooses to remain anonymous, explained that he received a call one morning and recognized from the caller ID that it was the Michigan Lottery. His first thought was that it might be a call about the $6 million Jackpot second-chance game, but he didn’t expect what was coming.
He only thought he had won the $1,000 or $10,000 prize, never anticipating that he had hit the $100,000 prize. The player recently claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters and plans to pay bills, donate to charity, and make home improvements.
Non-winning $6 million Jackpot tickets are eligible for a second chance prize from $500 to $100,000. Players can enter by scanning any non-winning ticket using the Michigan Lottery mobile app before September 1, 2023. There will be seven more second-chance drawings before the deadline.
