It took nearly a week for the first million-dollar winner in the Michigan Lottery in 2023. Nevertheless, someone purchased a winning Lotto 47 ticket for the Saturday, January 7 drawing worth $1.15 million. The ticket was sold at the Kroger in Pinckney at 9700 Chilson Commons Circle in Livingston County. Last year, there were a total of 48 million-dollar Michigan Lottery winners.
The player holding the winning ticket matched the numbers 02, 09, 20, 22, 24, and 39 to win the state’s first million-dollar grand prize. The lucky winner will have one year from the January 7 drawing to contact the Michigan Lottery and claim their winnings. After that, they can call the Michigan Lottery Player Relations Division to claim the prize at 1-844-887-6836, and an appointment will be scheduled with lottery officials.
According to the Michigan Lottery, in 2022, seven players in the state won a Lotto 47 grand prize, the largest of which was $5.42 million purchased online by a resident in Redford. The drawings for Lotto 47 are conducted twice per week on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 7:29 pm.
Mega Millions Jackpot Recently Topped the $1 Billion Market
Players can now get in on the action as the Mega Millions jackpot has recently topped the $1 billion market for just the sixth time in history. No one won the jackpot in the January 10 drawing, meaning the jackpot will be worth $1.35 billion for the drawing on Friday, January 13. It will be the 26th drawing since a player won the last jackpot on October 14, 2022.
The last time Michigan residents won the Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot was when the Wolverine FLL Lottery Club hit a $1.05 billion jackpot in March 2021. The lucky winners plan to give back to the community with a big part of their winnings.
It’s crucial for players to always check their tickets as soon as possible to avoid losing out on a big jackpot. Recently, a winning ticket worth $1 million that was sold last year in Warren went unclaimed. The state ultimately donated the money to the Michigan School Aid Fund, as its policies specify.
