An anonymous 62-year-old player from Macomb County almost didn’t realize he’d won a $261,935 Monthly Jackpot Progressive Prize from the Michigan Lottery. The player won the prize after being selected in the monthly drawing on March 8. His entries into the drawing were earned by playing eligible Monthly Jackpot games at MichiganLottery.com.
The player had recently received a letter from the Lottery informing him that officials had been trying to contact him about his winning prize. He then went through his email and phone and saw he’d missed multiple calls and emails telling him the deadline to claim his winnings was the next day. If he hadn’t finally picked up the phone, he may have never realized he had won.
Michigan Lottery games that include a second chance progressive jackpot drawing are Mystery Vault, Lucky Start, and Michigan Multiplier Wilds. A portion of the purchase price for each game is added to the progressive jackpot prize awarded in the monthly second chance drawing.
One entry is earned for every $0.50 wagered playing the eligible games. Once the entry period is closed, a jackpot winner is selected in the random drawing from all entries for the month.
Eleven Monthly Jackpot Progressive prizes have been won since the second chance game began in April 2022. Entries are valid only for the entry period players earn them. Once the new drawing period starts, the progressive jackpot is reset to $5,000. The next drawing is scheduled for April 12.
Lotto 47 Jackpot Ticket Yet To Be Claimed
A winning $4.38-million Lotto 47 jackpot ticket purchased in Lathrup Village has yet to be claimed since the drawing on April 1. The winning numbers in Saturday’s drawing were: 04-08-17-19-24-45, with the winning ticket sold at Lathrup Village Convenience at 28939 Southfield Road.
The lucky ticket holder can contact the Michigan Lottery Player Relations division at 844-877-6836 and choose option 2 to schedule an appointment to pick up their prize. Winning Lotto 47 tickets are valid for one year after the drawing date.
It costs just $1 to play Lotto 47, where players pick six numbers from one to 47 to win the jackpot starting at $1 million. Drawings are on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:29 PM and can be purchased at over 10,000 Lottery retailers or online at MichiganLottery.com.
