A Berrien County man says he’s looking forward to retiring comfortably after winning $300,000 playing the Mystery Key Cashword game from the Michigan Lottery. The 68-year-old player purchased his winning ticket at a Family Fare Quick Stop in Southwest Wyoming.

The lucky player said it had been a while since he’s played any Cashword games, so he decided to give it a try and buy a ticket while at the store one day. After getting into his car, he scratched the ticket and was surprised at how many words were revealed. When he was done, he counted ten words, which pays a jackpot of $300,000, and then had someone else look over the ticket to make sure he was reading it correctly.

The player chose to remain anonymous and recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He says he plans to pay bills and help his family with the winnings. He added that he recently retired, so winning the prize came at the perfect time.

Michigan Lottery players have won over $25 million playing the Mystery Key Cashword instant game since it launched in July 2022. The $5 tickets give players a chance to win prizes from $5 up to the top prize of $300,000. There are still more than $13 million in prizes remaining on the Mystery Key Cashword game, including 61 prizes of $1,000.

Twelve other Cashword games are available online and at any Michigan Lottery retailer, costing from $0.25 to $20 per play. Cashword Times 20 and 20X Cashword are $20 in-store instant games where players can win from $20 up to $1 million. Two $1 million top prizes are still up for grabs on Cashword Times 20, and one top prize of $1 million has yet to be won playing 20X Cashword.

Cashword Times 10 and Luxury Cashword cost $10 per play, with prizes available from $10 to $500,000, and Cashword Time 5 is one of two games with the top prize of $300,000 for $5 per play.

Michigan Lottery players won over $1.7 billion playing instant games in 2022. Lottery instant games can be purchased online or at any of the 10,500 retailers in the state.
