A Kent County man’s lucky numbers finally led to a big payday when he won $25,000 a year for life by playing the Lucky For Life game from the Michigan Lottery. Steven Frederick of Belmont matched all five balls in the June 20 drawing: 10-17-26-28-30 to win his big prize. He purchased the winning ticket at the J&H Family Store in Belmont, about ten miles north of Grand Rapids.

Frederick says he’s been playing Lucky For Life for several years and always plays the same set of numbers. He checked his numbers the morning after the drawing and shouted, “It’s about time!” when he saw he’d won the $25,000 a year for life prize. He said that after showing the amount he had won to his wife, she began “hollering with excitement.” They regularly played the same numbers and were both excited that they finally won the prize.

The 67-year-old Frederick recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He elected to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum of $390,000 instead of annual payments of $25,000 a year for 20 years or life, whichever is greater. The lucky winner plans to buy a new home with his winnings.

Lucky For Life costs $2 per play and gives players a chance to win prizes from $3 up to a lifetime of cash. Players can win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life by matching all five numbers from one to 48, plus the Lucky Ball, ranging from one to 18. Matching all five numbers without the Lucky Ball earns players $25,000 a year for life.

Drawings are held seven days a week at 10:38 pm. Players can buy tickets at any Lottery retailer throughout Michigan and online at MichiganLottery.com.

Lucky For Life is one of ten draw games available from the Michigan Lottery. The current jackpot in the Lotto 47 draw game is estimated at $4.45 million, but the two biggest prizes waiting to be won are by playing Mega Millions and Powerball.

Mega Millions‘ estimated jackpot is $368 million for Friday’s drawing, and the Powerball jackpot is estimated at $493 million for the next draw on Saturday.
