The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are now giving Michigan Lottery players a chance to win more than $647 million in this weekend’s upcoming drawings. The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday night’s drawing is estimated at over $281 million. If there’s a winner, they’ll have a cash option of $145.2 million, making it the third-largest Mega Millions jackpot of 2023.

The last time a player won the Mega Millions jackpot was this past April when a ticket purchased in New York matched the five white balls and the Mega ball to win a $20 million prize.

The last Mega Millions jackpot won in Michigan, however, was when an Oakland County lottery club was awarded $1.05 billion in January 2021. It was the largest jackpot ever won in the state and the sixth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history.

There was also no winner in Powerball drawing this past Wednesday, making Saturday’s jackpot now worth $366 million. If there’s a winner in the next drawing, they’ll have a cash option of $189 million. The last time a Michigan player won the Powerball jackpot was in February 2020, when Cristy Davis won a $70 million jackpot.

The current Powerball jackpot is the second-largest jackpot of 2023. There hasn’t been a jackpot winner since April when a ticket bought in Ohio matched the five white balls and the Powerball to win a $252.6 million jackpot.

There’s still lots of time to purchase tickets for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing, which is held every Tuesday and Friday night. Powerball drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 pm.

Michigan Lottery retailers will have Mega Millions tickets on sale until 10:45 pm tonight. Powerball tickets will be on sale for the next drawing on Saturday until 9:45 pm. Both Mega Millions and Powerball tickets can also be purchased online using the Michigan Lottery app or at MichiganLottery.com.

Mega Millions and Powerball cost $2 per play, and for an additional $1, players can add multipliers to increase their winnings. The Mega Millions “Megaplier” can multiply non-jackpot prizes up to five times, while the “Power Play” option can increase non-jackpot Powerball prizes up to 10x to a maximum of $2 million.
