An anonymous Michigan woman recently made a huge return on her small investment. After spending just $5 on a Pick-Six ticket, she was surprised to discover she was holding a winning ticket worth $300,000. The 41-year-old said she bought the ticket with a Michigan Lottery games coupon.

“I purchased the ticket on New Year’s Eve using a $5 free play coupon I won playing the second chance games,” the woman said. “I scratched the ticket when I got in my car, and when I saw I’d won $300,000, I couldn’t believe it! I looked the ticket over multiple times and scanned it on the Lottery app to confirm the amount. When the $300,000 came up on the screen with confetti, I called my family and friends to tell them the good news!”

The winner recently turned in her Cashword Times 5 ticket, which she had purchased at the Beverage Expression West Road in Trenton. She told the Lottery that she would use her winnings to pay bills and take a vacation, and save the remainder.

Cashword Times 5 launched in April 2022, and has already yielded more than $19 million in winnings. Players who purchase a $5 ticket can win prizes ranging from $5 to a $300,000 top prize.

There are also five $10,000 prizes and 33 $2,000 prizes still up for grabs, adding to a total of more than $16 million in remaining prizes. These Michigan Lottery instant games can be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers in the state.

Another Michigan man, who the Lottery didn’t identify, also had a stroke of luck earlier this month. After purchasing two identical tickets for the Michigan Lottery, he discovered both were winners. Initially thinking he had won $55,000 on each, he was pleasantly surprised to learn each ticket was actually worth $110,000.

“I have been playing Fantasy 5 for a long time and I always play the same sets of numbers,” he told Michigan Lottery officials. “I was at the gas station, and I couldn’t remember if I’d purchased a ticket for the Fantasy 5 drawing that night, so I decided to purchase one to be safe.”

The lucky winner purchased the tickets at a local convenience store in Sheridan and a Mobil gas station in Stanton. He said he will use the money to renovate his home and provide for his family.
