The Michigan Lottery just continues to grow in popularity, and proceeds from the lottery have benefitted many groups or organizations in the state. Winning the lottery is still one of the luckiest things in the world to achieve, but there have already been some big winners over the last few weeks.
Instant games have been seeing more winners of late than usual, but some of the biggest winners have been coming from traditional lottery games. Michigan isn’t handing out hundreds of millions of dollars, but some residents have been able to take home nice sums of cash.
Powerball Prize is Claimed
A man from Commerce Township was able to get his new year started off on the right foot after hitting the Powerball for a substantial prize. James Allen of Oakland County knew that he had hit the Powerball after the numbers were drawn, but he got a pleasant surprise upon further inspection.
Allen was able to hit four of the white balls in the drawing for a total win of $50,000, and he went to bed thinking that he had himself a nice cash prize. He forgot that he also purchased the power play option, and he hit that number as well.
Because of hitting the Powerball, Allen was able to see his initial winnings quadrupled, giving him a grand total of $200,000. These Powerball tickets can be purchased for just $2, and the power play can be added for an additional $1.00.
Allen was able to hit these numbers on December 30, and recently went to the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
Fantasy 5 Game Sees a Winner
During the Fantasy 5 drawing on December 29th, one winner was able to match all five numbers for a massive broadcast. By matching all five numbers, Joseph Gross of Cheboygan, was able to collect the jackpot of $115,000.
The winning numbers that were chosen by Gross were 04-08-11-22-31, and that just happened to be the numbers that were drawn that night. The reason that the jackpot for this game was much smaller is because it costs just $1 per play.
There are a number of different ways to increase the winning opportunities on the Fantasy 5 game, but Gross didn’t need any help. Gross recently visited the lottery headquarters in order to claim his prize, and he intends to pay off his house with this winnings.
