With today’s victory story, we look at woman from Warren County who scored the jackpot by reeling in a win of nearly $400K. Not too shabby for playing the Michigan Lottery, huh? That’s the big purpose behind showing you every week what’s going on in the state with these folks.
They give the game a chance and before they know it, they’ve got enough to seriously be able to take a rest and enjoy their time. Why not let that be you? Let’s talk about Shayla Kauflin and what she did, why it matters, and what she plans to do with the moola she earned.
How It Came To Be
When you decide to put a small sum of money into something, it would usually be called an investment. A little bit given today so that you may eventually see that figure skyrocket. But in this instance, Shayla Kauflin gave just $10 and it became almost half-a-million dollars. Not too shabby, huh? This really, actually, happened.
This was Kauflin’s first time ever playing the Michigan Lottery, and simply did this on a whim. She saw the Lucky for Life ticket online while playing Powerball. She claimed that she began to scream, cry, and just really lose her mind altogether when finding out just how much money she won. Some people have to work many years to earn the amount that she pulled in with a single amount of good fortune gone her way.
As soon as she saw the $390K and told her husband, the thought was that something was amiss. Somebody was out a whole lot of money. Oh no! But it was not like that at all. The victory was the real deal and it did in fact come to pass. In a big way, she had made it. And then there is the discussion as to what they will do with the winnings that they were blessed with.
Spending The Victory Fund
Kauflin, 39, opted to claim the lump sum payment, instead of just doing $25K in annuity payments each and every year. In doing that, she’s able to do something she loves right away before then being more intelligent with it.
The plan will be a family trip to Disney before investing the rest of it. A perfect way to handle this. Two thumbs up.
